What is Smart Metering?

Business energy users are being offered the opportunity to streamline their energy management through the use of smart metering for the first time in the UK. Bringing together all the data from all sites into a single, easy-to-use web-based facility, the technology aims to benefit companies that have a large number of sites. Another objective will also be to help companies that have unmanned sites, or site security issues as gathering meter readings in the traditional manner can require considerable resources.

This will allow energy use to be better monitored, therefore benchmarking consumption over time, and help identify and realise cost savings across a company's portfolio and allow better financial control. In addition, environmental factors now being considered by most businesses requires a more detailed energy breakdown, similar to the level of information available to half hourly metered customers. The Smart Meter, offering Automated Meter Reading (AMR) technology and readings every half hour, marks a breakthrough for non-half hourly energy users looking to improve energy management and reduce administration and asset maintenance costs.

Through our relationship with suppliers we are able to offer Smart Metering on all 05 - 08 sites as a non cost option, for both Green and Brown tariffs. We would not recommend Smart Metering for the 03 / 04 sites at this stage, as the cost would out way any savings.

Data from Smart Metering allows us to perform far more advanced tariff analysis for our clients, and allows us to identify significant savings.

We are also able to arrange a traditional meter reading services for all / some sites if required.
