The Association of Energy Brokers

This Code of Ethics (Code) defines and reaffirms the values, principles and internal controls that members of the Association of Energy Brokers Association (AEB) must follow in conducting their business activities. The Code has been constructed to complement the internal principles and practices of each individual company and to provide fair expectations for those making use of the services provided by members of AEB.

A strong commitment to ethical standards will help to provide the market confidence needed for the maximum benefit to consumers and brokers alike.

Above all, each AEB member company adopting this Code reaffirms its commitment to excellence, professionalism and unwavering ethical conduct.

Members of AEB will:

  1. Conduct their business in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and in good faith, and with a commitment to professional and ethical execution.
  2. Not engage in fraudulent behaviour.
  3. Document all brokerage agreements with customers, consultants, agents that clearly state the services to be rendered, the fee (if any) to be paid and other material terms and conditions.
  4. Take all reasonable steps to help ensure that prices quoted, either verbally or in writing, are accurate and are reflective of the market, to the best of your knowledge.
  5. Maintain written documentation on all transactions for a commercially reasonable period but in no event less than (3) years.
  6. Provide clients same/next day contract confirmations;
  7. Maintain a company policy for resolving errors and client complaints.
  8. Maintain company policies for adhering to industry-accepted code of ethics and business practices.
  9. Be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
  10. Maintain a compliance program that will assure appropriate, timely and ongoing review of brokerage activities to ensure compliance with this Code.
